PM Launches UTC, Kuala Lumpur

The Pudu Sentral Building, formerly known as Puduraya Station will soon be named Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), Kuala Lumpur. The announcement was made by YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minster of Malaysia in an official UTC KL launching ceremony at Pudu Sentral on 22 September 2012 (Saturday).


Also present were YB Dato Raja Nong Chik Dato Raja Zainal Abidin, Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing, YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Second Finance Minister, YB Datu Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Youth and Sport, YB Datuk M. Saravanan, Deputy Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing and Ybhg Dato Haji Ahmad Phesal Talib, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.


He said, while speaking in front of about 10,000 onlookers, the ongoing transformation is proof of the governments new orientation and approach in taking into consideration the current needs and welfare of the urban community. “The four storey building worth RM24 million is a one stop centre that houses 39 government departments, private sector agencies as well as recreational centres founded on a Blue Ocean Strategy, in 6 months it will be the second UTC after the one located along Jalan Hang Tuah, Melaka”’ he added.


UTC KL allows city dweller and visitors to conduct various transactions such as tithe payment, tax, MyKad related issues and transactions, passport and recreational activities including everything from wall climbing to aerobic exercise or even futsal.
