Taman Tasik Perdana has a wide range area of 101.12 hectares or 250 acres. Formerly known as the Lake Gardens, it is located about 1 kilometer from the city centre and it was one of the first recreational parks in the city of Kuala Lumpur. The Lake Gardens had an area of only 70 hectares when it was established by A.R.Venning in 1888. The name has now been changed to TAMAN TASIK PERDANA. A number of parks located in the Sungai Brass-Brass valley were reserved for the residence of English officials till 1947. A dam was built across the river which then formed a lake that was given the name Lake Sydney. Lake Sydney has since been enlarged from 2.8 to 4.04 hectares. TAMAN TASIK PERDANA was launched by the late Tun Haji Abd. Razak Hussein, the Prime Minister of Malaysia on May 1, 1975. It was surrounded by places of interest such as Parliament, Tugu Pahlawan and Muzium Negara.
