VECTOR CONTROL UNIT, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT
The Vector Control Unit is one of the units under the Department of Health and the Environment that runs the monitoring and controlling of Vector- Borne Infectious Disease especially Hemorrhagic Dengue Fever and also Chikungunya.
In order to control Dengue Fever and Hemorrhagic Dengue Fever, services provided are:
- Inspection and destruction of the Aedes mosquitoes larvae breeding grounds especially in areas where there were incidences of dengue fever cases.
- Spray Chamber Thermal (Fogging) and Environment Fumigation Spray (ULV) in areas where incidences of dengue fever cases occurred.
- Enforcement of Laws under the Destruction of Disease Bearing Insects Act 1975.
Under the Destruction of Disease Bearing Insects Act 1975, this unit provides Check and Payment Counters for offences in relation to the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
