VECTOR CONTROL UNIT, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
The Vector Control Unit is one of the units under the Department of Health and Environment, responsible for monitoring and controlling vector-borne infectious diseases, particularly Dengue Fever, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, and Chikungunya.
To control Dengue Fever and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, the following services are provided:
i. Inspection and Elimination of Aedes mosquito breeding sites, especially in areas where Dengue cases have occurred.
ii. Thermal Fogging and Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) Misting in areas with reported Dengue cases.
iii. Legal Enforcement under the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975.
Under the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975, this unit provides a Counter for Inspection and Compound Payment for offenses related to Aedes mosquito breeding.
